Quality and specification review for a footwear programme
Quotation

Updated 2026-09-24 · ~8 min read

How to read a footwear quotation.

A useful quote is a cost structure with one figure at the end. A ranking trick is a pair price with no last, no material set and no tooling line.

Two factories can quote the “same shoe” and be $2 apart because they are not quoting the same object. One included new moulds, a test report and a branded box. The other assumed an existing last, no testing and a generic carton.

This page does not publish prices. The locked rule is the same as lead time: the commercial number is confirmed per style after we see the brief. MOQ is the one number we do publish — 600 pairs per color (mixed sizes) for styles we already run; custom styles start at 1,200 pairs per color. What we can publish is the structure, so you can tell a quotation from a placeholder.

What a serious quote names

LineWhat it is paying forUsual mistake
Pair FOB / ex-works equivalentMaterials + labour + factory overhead for the frozen specComparing it to a quote that used a different last
Tooling / last / mouldDevelopment you will own for that silhouetteAssuming it is free, or that it is inside the pair price
SamplingThe pairs that freeze the spec. Refunded against bulkTreating a pretty pair as approval
PackingBox, tissue, labels, hangtags, polybag, printsLeaving it unstated, then arguing at carton stage
Testing / reportsMarket-specific physical and chemical testsAssuming a management-system ISO covers a destination-market test
Freight / dutyOnly if the Incoterm puts it on the sellerReading a FOB as if it were DDP

Why the first-email number moves

  • Quantity and colourways. Four colours of a small run is not one colour of a larger run. See what to expect on MOQ.
  • Construction. A leather casual shoe and a plated runner do not share a wastage rate or a line load.
  • Material set. A mill already in the 100+ supplier network is a different conversation from a special compound. See the materials guide.
  • What is not in the pair. Testing, branded packing and a DDP duty line will not appear unless someone wrote them in.

How to ask so you get one figure

Send: market, reference pair or tech pack, target quantity, last source, and whether packing is generic or branded. Payment terms are confirmed with the quotation. Incoterms are confirmed per order — start with FOB, CIF and DDP if that vocabulary is still fuzzy.

Capacity on the partner campus is 20 million pairs and 10 million garments a year, with 16 intelligent lines and 68 stitching lines. Scale is why a trial and a later programme can live on the same floor. Scale is not a reason to publish a fake FOB on this page.

FAQ

Quotations — questions buyers ask.

Show all 4 questions

Why won't you put a price on the website?

+
Because a price without last, materials, quantity and Incoterms is not an offer. Publishing one would be a ranking trick.

What is tooling, and is it in the pair price?

+
Tooling is last, mould and related development. It is usually a separate line, not hidden inside a pair FOB. We state it before work starts.

Are sample charges extra?

+
Sample cost is quoted before sampling starts and is refunded against the bulk order.

FOB of what, exactly?

+
Port and Incoterms are confirmed per order. FOB and CIF are standard; DDP can be discussed for full-container orders. Freight is not a blog number.
